Meet at the lobby of your hotel the English-speaking driver-escort and leave towards Agrigento. Meet at the entrance of the Valley of The Temples your private local English speaking guide to enjoy a guided visit of the archaeological area, a Unesco World Heritage and the largest area of Greek vestiges beyond Greece. The Valley covers an area of 1.300 hectars and includes remains of seven temples, all in Doric style, built between the 5th and the 4th centuries BC, when Agrigento became one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean world: its supremacy and pride are demonstrated by the remains of the magnificent Doric temples dominating the ancient town. The most important and well-preserved: The Temple of Concordia, whose name comes from a Latin inscription found nearby, was built in the 5th century BC. Turned into a church in the 6th century AD, it is now one of the best preserved in the Valley. After the visit, follow the coastal route, where a system of secluded beaches stretches along the horizon, and arrive at the so –called “Turkish Steps” , a white cliff of marl where centuries of rain and wind have carved a natural white staircase, dazzling in the sunlight. Time at leisure to relax or sunbath and to enjoy the wonderful panorama over the sea from the top of the cliff. Back to Palermo in the afternoon.
