Meet at the lobby of your hotel the English-speaking driver-escort and leave towards Cefalù, a fisherman village famous for its rich historical centre (the Normand Cathedral and the medieval quarter) as well for its beautiful beach and blue sea. Visit the new Unesco site with a nice self-discover walking tour of the old town including the Norman Duomo, initiated under Roger II in 1131, that preserves precious mosaics which adorn the apse and a representation of Christ Pantocrator; the Giudecca and the jewish ghetto; the striking medieval wash-house and the Mandralisca Museum, the latter preserving the famous portrait of an unknown man by Antonello da Messina. Proceed towards Madonie Mountains to visit a local farmhouse where you will know the“ Manna”, considered the Madonie’ s gold. The Manna is the lifeblood of the ash trees, a sweet gift of nature, rich in particular sugars, used in many receipts of the area. Here, after a pleasant walk among the trees, enjoy, before lunch, an explanation on how to extract the Manna from the bark of the ash trees and a story telling about it. In the afternoon, visit Castelbuono and its lovely city centre, including a stop in a very known pastry to taste the famous “pistachio’s panettone. Back to Palermo.
