Meet at the lobby of your hotel the English speaking driver-escort and leave towards Segesta. A tortuous and fascinating street leeds to the archeological area, where you will visit the Temple, a perfect example of the Doric school and the Theatre: the ancients were good at choosing the places where to build the theatres !!! Continue towards Marsala area via the spectacular “Salt Route”, a captivating road flanked by the glittering ponds of the salt pans, windmills, and the “salt houses” (piles of salt covered with tiles) … (here they still extract the sea salt as the Phoenicians did!). Consider to take a boat excursion to the isle of Mothia, an ancient Phoenician colony where you will visit the archaeologycal area and the Whitaker’s museum, hosting the famous statue of The Young Man from Mothia“ or to visit the small salt museum. Lunch at leisure in the area in a typical trattoria overlooking the Stagnone Lagoon. In the afternoon visit a local winery and enjoy a tasting of the famous Marsala wine directly tapped from the barrels. Back to Palermo.
